AET Early Years Making Sense of Autism

This training has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Early Years Team, for the attention of early years practitioners working in Slough in PVIs, childminders and assistants, maintained nursery schools, EYFS in primary schools, as well as wraparound childcare and HAF providers supporting reception and year 1 children.

Slough Early Years are licenced training partners with the Autism Education Trust, Slough have invested in being a partner to deliver this research and evidenced based, high quality ASD training to all providers in Slough for FREE

This module is part of the Autism Education Trust (AET) professional development programme for staff in early years settings. The modules and materials have been created to help leaders and practitioners to understand the distinctive strengths and learning needs of young autistic children.

•       To extend your understanding of how autism affects children in the early years

•       To increase your expertise in recognising a child’s individual strengths and differences

•       To develop your skills in identifying barriers to learning for autistic children

•       To develop your understanding of what “reasonable adjustments” need to be made to support an autistic child in your setting.

Extending to parents and carers

If you have attended this training and feel it would be helpful for any of your parents/carers to attend, please email karen.loft@slough.gov.uk with the parents details that want to book

We would ask you to arrange a time to meet with the parents after the session to talk about their own child’s needs and how the setting/school are adapting the provision and practice and update any one-page profiles/all about me/pupil passports
