Experienced DSL Training 2023-24

This training has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Education Safeguarding Professional, Zarine Power, aimed at all Designated Safeguarding Leads from Slough Schools.

Experienced DSL training offers experienced DSL’s and DDSL’s with a refresher on key messages including updates to Keeping Children Safe in Education (2023), mental health, online harms and harmful sexual behaviours.

Aim:

By the end of the course you will have increased understanding, knowledge and confidence to carry out the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with KCSIE 2023 guidance.

Learning outcomes:

Delegates will have increased awareness and understanding of:

• The roles and responsibilities of the DSL and support for DSL’s to adapt to the changing landscape of safeguarding

• Identify legislation and guidance pertinent to your role and recognise good practice

• Understand wider contextual safeguarding issues and create a culture of safeguarding through recognising harm

• Understand online harms and how to apply the filtering and monitoring standards

• Understand your own attitude and value system and the impact in the professional safeguarding system around harmful sexual behaviours, sexual harassment and sexual violence.

• Understand and effectively contribute in multi-agency systems and processes to safeguard children
