Health and Safety Course: Manual Handling

This workshop has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Health and Safety Adviser, Victoria Swift, for the attention of all Schools in Slough.

This workshop is designed to provide sufficient understanding and knowledge of Manual Handling of objects, the risks involved and the control measures available. This course does not cover the moving and handling of people.

By the end of the course you will understand:

  • What is manual handling,
  • Legal requirements,
  • Function of the spine,
  • Associated risks and injuries, and
  • Practical in how to lift correctly – kinetic lift or 6 point list checklist.

Pre Course Preparation

Delegates do not have to formally prepare for the course, however it would be useful to understand the practices and local procedures at your school. 

Fees

For all schools that buy into the SBC H&S Service Level Agreement the cost of the course per delegate is £15

For Schools that do not buy into the SBC H&S Service Level Agreement the cost of the course per delegate is £60.
