Lego-based Therapy training gives you the key knowledge, skills, structure, and resources to effectively run Lego-based therapy sessions with young people. Originally designed for autistic children with social and communication needs, it has been found to be beneficial to a much wider variety of young people with similar challenges.
What the Course will cover:
- Awareness of Autism and the theory behind the structured approach
- Theory of Lego Therapy and how this can be applied
- How to assess children to level of competency of Lego therapy
- Practicalities of setting up and maintaining this intervention
- How to use Lego therapy to support vulnerable children with more complex issues
- Practical exercises to carry out with the trainer throughout the course
Course Details:
- 20 places per session via Zoom to enable trainer support throughout
- Full day from 09:15 to 15:15 bespoke phase specific training
- For 2 members of staff from each setting (SENDCo & a delivering member of staff)
- Resource kit (x1 per setting) needed to enable you to follow the training and enable immediate delivery to pupils. This will cost £80. Pick up will be available from a named setting (details on booking)
- The 2 members of staff will need to be online and sat together on the day of training with their kit
- x1 follow up support session within a term
- Online resources for you to edit according to your setting's needs
- Delegate assessment and accredited certification as a lego therapy needs practitioner from NW Autism & SEND
Delegates will need to purchase at least one starter kit per setting at a cost of £80 to access the course and deliver the intervention, however the delivery of the training itself is free of charge. Schools will be invoiced directly by Emma. Kits will be available for collection at a named school and invoices should be paid by the date of the course being attended.
