Makaton Levels 1 & 2

This training has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Early Years Team, for the attention of any practitioner working within the EYFS and year 1 in primary schools, wraparound childcare and HAF providers, childminders and assistants.

In Slough we have significant numbers of children that have SLCN and we understand the importance of a Total Communication approach

We have had requests for more Makaton training which we are subsiding to maximise the number of practitioners in Slough to be trained

You will receive the manuals and training for FREE.

The training is over 4 sessions online, and you MUST attend all 4 to complete the training

This training is facilitated by a registered Makaton teacher

Makaton Training – Level 1 & 2

All Makaton training provides you with information about what Makaton is and how it can be used in different settings. You also learn signs and symbols from the Core Vocabulary to an appropriate level.

Level 1 Workshops:

Introduction Level – Teaches approx. 150 signs/symbol concepts from stages 1,2 and part of the additional vocab. Also teaches the finger-spelling alphabet and provides important background information about Makaton. The workshop is an excellent mix of practical signing and symbol teaching and sharing information.

Level 2 Workshops:

Aim: To teach stages 3&4 and the second part of the additional vocabulary, as well as refreshing Level 1 Vocabulary. The workshop also provides further information about the research behind Makaton, how to apply Makaton and introducing teaching approaches. This workshop is very interactive and a good mix of practical and information.

Target audience: any practitioner working within the EYFS and year 1 in primary schools, wraparound childcare and HAF providers, childminders and assistants 

Cost: FREE note the cost for this training course has been subsidised by the Early years Inclusion Grant

Expectation to attend all 4 sessions, failure to attend once booking confirmed £100 charged to the setting/school
