Multilingual Learners in the Early Years

This training is brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Early Years team for the attention of practitioners working in EYFS  and year 1 in Slough PVIs. nurseries, schools, childminders and assistants, wraparound and HAF providers.

In Slough we embrace a diverse community and all the languages that our children, families and staff bring to the Early Years

This session celebrates the advantages of our children being bilingual and multilingual, looks at the development of language and how we can support through our interactions, learning experiences and environment

 Practitioners will:

  • Recognise the advantages of being an EAL learner
  • Understand the stages of a child learning English as an additional language and how to support them
  • Identify effective practice and provision that will support children with EAL
  • Address challenges of practitioner’s understanding and improve the provision and practice
