Safeguarding DSL level 3

This training has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council 's Early Years Team for the attention of Designated Safeguarding Leads.

The course is for those who already have a knowledge of safeguarding and who will have to make decisions on next steps taking the role of a Designated Safeguarding Lead. This content focuses on children but will overview adult safeguarding both as good practice, and also to encourage children to be seen as part of a wider family and community system.

This course will be interactive and will involve group work and case studies. The course takes account of recent changes to the Ofsted inspection framework, Early Years Foundation Stage and Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the training, learners will have:

  • Outlined the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Summarised relevant government legislation and local guidance including child protection processes and statutory guidance.
  • An overview of adult safeguarding and the relevant legislation.
  • Considered trends in safeguarding and supporting practitioners with challenges which arise
  • Identified the need for inter-agency working including making referrals and challenges of information sharing
  • Developed skills around record keeping
  • Explored safeguarding in the context of risk management
  • Understood the process around managing allegations
  • Developed an understand of the impact of own values on role and duty of care to self an others

At the end of the course, learners are given access to a link with a wealth of information including the course materials and additional support.

An e certificate will be supplied after the course.
