Activities and workshops during the summer holidays for our young people

This information is brought to you by Slough Borough Council and Slough Children First, for the attention of all.

With the summer holidays soon underway, there’ll be many programmes available for our children and young people in and around Slough.

Below is a list of some SCF and SBC activities that will be running.

Slough HAF

Children and young people can take part in Slough’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme from 20 July-31 August.

Free for kids eligible for benefit-related free school meals with a voucher. If they are eligible, an email will be sent out from HolidayActivities.com.

Events with our Participation Team

We're excited to announce that our Summer Programme is coming up, and we'd be grateful for your support in promoting these opportunities to the young people you work with and encouraging them to sign up.

These activities/workshops are open to young people across all of our services excluding the ‘In Our Shoes Workshop’ which is for our care experienced young people who either attend our care councils or are one of our Young Ambassadors.


Big Takeover Day – 6 August (All ages)

Time: 11:00am-2:30pm

Location: Observatory House

The Big Takeover Day is a fun and interactive day that promotes youth voice, leadership and participation. A chance for young people to have the opportunity to take over decision-making spaces, share their views and ideas, and influence the services that support them.


Global Grub – 12 August (Ages 10+)

Time: 12:30pm-6:00pm

Location: Kederminster Park

Delivered with Together as One, this hands-on cooking workshop will allow young people to explore Thai culture through food, learn basic cooking skills, and try a new recipes with a professional chef.
Young people are free to come along at whatever time is convenient to them during that time but will need to reserve their slot via the booking link.

MATRIX Employability Workshop – 13 August (Ages 14+)

Time: 12:30pm-3:00pm

Location: Observatory House

A workshop for young people 14 and over, who are thinking about their future education and career pathways, because you’re never too young to start thinking about your future. The session will focus on employability skills, confidence-building, CV support, interview preparation and understanding opportunities available to them. 


In Our Shoes Workshop – 27 August (Ages 7+)

Time: 11:00am-2:30pm

Location: Observatory House

A branding and arts workshop for those who attend our care councils/ are one of our Young Ambassadors.

Young people will have the opportunity to get creative, express themselves through art and contribute ideas towards participation branding and promotional materials. This session will encourage creativity, teamwork and ownership of future participation projects. We've commissioned a local artist to support this event but are still waiting to hear about availability.

Virtual School summer event – 25 August

The Virtual School are running an event for children in our care who are in years 6-11.

Outdoor fun from 09:30am-3pm.
