Barriers that people with learning disabilities face when using public transport

This survey has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council on behalf of Mencap for the attention of all schools working with pupils who have learning disabilities and use public transport.

I am reaching out to ask for your support for our current research project aimed at exploring the existing enablers and barriers that people with learning disabilities face when using public transport. As part of this project funded by the Motability Foundation, we have launched our first national survey for people with a learning disability on public transport – The Big Public Transport Survey.

You can find a link to the survey here: Big Public Transport Survey

It was co-produced with people with a learning disability and asks questions about things that are important to them, including how public transport barriers impact on people’s wellbeing, access to community and access to paid work. The survey is open until the end of the year (31/12) and anyone who completes it can enter a prize draw for the chance to win one of four £40 vouchers.

This will ensure that the voices of people with a learning disability are heard and will help us better understand how public transport could be made more accessible in your area. This is a fantastic opportunity to gather valuable insights directly from the community we serve, and your help is essential. The survey is formatted in Easy Read and includes audio clips so that people with a learning disability can listen to questions out loud.

We can also post paper copies of the survey to services if needed.  Please feel free to forward this email to anyone that might be better suited or who might be able to support this initiative. If you have any questions about the survey at all, please get in touch with research@mencap.org.uk. Thank you for your support!
