This event has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council on behalf of Get Berkshire Active for the attention of all Schools.
Get Berkshire Active are launching their 2024 Women and Girls Wellness Series, and you are invited!
Please join us for our first FREE online webinar on 6th March 2024 (13:00-15:00) with a focus on: Pre-teens/Teenagers
Teenage girls are generally less physically active and far less likely to take part in team sports than boys.
A survey by Women in Sport (2022) found 43% of teenage girls who once actively engaged with and enjoyed sport were being side-lined in their teenage years and made to feel inadequate, compared with just 24% of boys of the same age. This must change! We want to empower females to move their bodies more and without fear of judgement. Similarly, 78% say they avoid sport when they have their period while 73% don’t like others watching them take part in activity.
This webinar will explore some of the challenges and barriers that girls face during this life stage, and we want you to join us to help explore how we can work collaboratively to influence the system and support teenage girls to be more physically active.
This session will be useful to any organisation working with pre-teens and teenagers (or related work) to help explore ways we can all play a role in supporting the concerning drop off levels in physical activity across this age group.
We are delighted to have the following speakers join us to share their knowledge and insight:
- Caroline Herman, Founder and CEO of All Yours Period Box CIC
- Siobhán O'Donovan, Founder of PostureFitting and Chartered Physiotherapist
- Tanya Martin, Head of Insight and Innovation at Women in Sport.
We hope you can join us and look forward to welcoming you on 6th March!
