Green Football's Great Save

This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Head of School Services, Sabi Hothi for the attention of All Schools.

March 2025 update

Green Football’s Great Save is in full swing — and with just 2 weeks left, we’d love your help in spreading the word to schools in your network and encouraging them to enter the competition.

Encourage schools to take part, make a difference, and win amazing prizes!

From now until April 14th, schools can take part in the UK’s biggest football campaign tackling climate change — and it’s not too late to get started.

Here’s how they can enter:

Log classroom activities: Download our free sustainability worksheets (KS1, KS2, KS3) and track your progress on our website. Each green goal logged gives your school an entry into our prize draw. www.greenfootball.org/schools

Host a “Sew It to Save It” session: Repurpose old sports kit with a fun, hands-on sewing workshop. Watch Leeds Forward Patrick Bamford give it a go — and inspire your students to give kit a second life.

Organise a “Ginormous Jumble Sale”: Clear out your lost property and unused sports gear. Host a school-wide sale or swap shop and donate leftover non-uniform items through The Salvation Army’s ‘Recycle with Michael’ scheme.

Win fantastic prizes. Participating schools could win a Sky Schools Experience, a virtual visit from author Dan Freedman or an Usborne book bundle.
