Highlighting private fostering - upcoming schools' newsletters

This information is brought to you by Slough Children First, for the attention of all.

Will you be looking after someone else’s child this summer, or have you arranged to?

Did you know that if it’s for 28 days or more, this could be a private fostering arrangement and your local authority needs to be notified?

Private fostering is often confused with fostering / a children’s social care arrangement by the local council but isn’t.

The arrangement could be for different reasons such as:

  • A family breakdown or arguments at home
  • Parents live or work overseas
  • A child goes to an independent school and isn’t going home during the holidays
  • A parent has taken ill or has long-term health issues
  • Teenagers living with a friend's family or partner's family
