Honour Based Abuse (HBA) & Forced Marriage (FM) - One day multi-agency course

This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Business Support Officer (Community Safety Service), Corletta Rolle, for the attention of practitioners interested in learning more about Honour Based Violence and Forced Marriage and the challenge practitioners face around the complexity of this subject.

Learning objectives:

This one day multi-agency course is intended to give participants working across East Berkshire (Bracknell Forest, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Slough) an understanding of the complex issues associated with honour based abuse (HBA) and forced marriage (FM), and equip you with knowledge and information to respond supportively to anyone in this situation.

  • To demonstrate a better understanding of the complex dynamics of Honour Based Abuse
  • To identify and understand the differences between Forced and Arranged Marriage
  • To gain an understanding of prevalence of Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage
  • To understand the impact of Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage
  • To increase understanding about risk assessment and management
  • To increase best working practice working with victims (and potential victims) of honour based abuse and forced marriage

To gain knowledge of local and national appropriate support services
