This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council on behalf of Mental Health Support Team, Team Lead for getting help, Jade Hens and ARRS (Slough) for the attention of professionals working with children.
The CAMHS Mental Health Support Teams and Getting Help Team provides assessments and short term, low-intensity treatments for children, young people and their families up to the age of 18 who experience mild-moderate mental health difficulties such as low mood, anxiety and behaviour related difficulties. Our practice is based on Guided Self Help and provide CBT informed interventions for children and young people.
We provide child-directed 1:1 support for young people 12+ and Parent-led interventions for children under 12 which are usually 6-8 weekly sessions lasting for one-hour. We do this through a blended model offering face-to-face and remote (Microsoft Teams) appointments.
At times further sessions may be required or we are able to signpost to other services for further support such as the AnDY clinic (anxiety and depression clinic) or onward referrals to other CAMHS services.
As of April 2025, we expanded and now have 6 Mental Health Support Teams across East Berkshire:
- Three MHSTs in Slough (2020, 2022 and third due to be fully implemented by 2026)
- Two MHSTs in Bracknell (2021 and second due to be fully implemented by 2026)
- One MHST in Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (2021)
