Statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment.

The new Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 Statutory guidance for schools and colleges comes into force on September 1st 2026.

The Early Years Foundation Stage states that ‘all schools are required to have regard to the government’s statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, and other childcare providers may also find it helpful to read this guidance.’

The guidance is broken down into the following areas.
