The Department for Education (DfE) has published data on suspensions and permanent exclusions from state-funded schools in England for the 2024/25 academic year. Findings show: there were 913,000 suspensions in the 2024/25 academic year, a decrease of 4% from the previous year; there were 9,900 permanent exclusions in 2024/25 academic year, a decrease of 9% from the previous year; and persistent disruptive behaviour continued to be the most common reason for suspension.
