Slough Healthy Weight – Workshop Invitation to develop our collective response!
We need your help!
Slough Health and Care Partnership have identified healthy weight as a priority issue for the borough.
National campaigns, such as the NHS's "Better Health" campaign, emphasise the importance of a balanced diet and regular physical activity in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. However, despite these efforts, a significant proportion of the UK and local Slough population, remains overweight or obese.
This has a major impact on local people’s health, education and employment and indeed our local economy. We are inviting you to join us on Monday 5th February for a day’s workshop in Slough [venue TBC] with colleagues across multiple agencies and community partners supported by an external facilitator, Tricordant, to work out together what we can do to change this situation.
In setting up this initiative our purpose is:
"Creating an environment throughout Slough that encourages and enables everyone to make positive choices that support the maintenance of healthy weight and active lifestyles”.
We have a multi-agency design group working to design the event. In preparation they are gathering data and evidence from multiple sources, including through local community engagement, a formal public health needs assessment and a short survey. We will share information before the event, and on the day of the workshop, discuss the findings in more depth. Together we will explore what we can do collectively and in our individual organisations to really make a difference on this critical challenge.
We believe together we can make a real difference for all the residents of Slough – young and old, by sharing our perspectives and bringing our energy and ideas to the table.
The invite has already come through, please ensure you respond to secure your place. If you are unable to attend, please nominate an appropriate representative.
Let’s see if together we can help Slough lose half a million pounds!
