Slough Libraries are delighted to announce that the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is Wild World Heroes - a celebration of nature that will inspire children to take care of their environment. The challenge is a national programme delivered in partnership with the Reading Agency. It launches in Slough on 3rd July.
The Summer Reading Challenge:
- Motivates and rewards children to keep reading through the summer holidays
- Boosts confidence and helps avoid the post-holiday ‘dip’ in reading levels
- Supports and encourages children to select their own books and discover new favourite reads
- Gives the opportunity for children to express their views
- Completers receive a medal and certificate which gives children a sense of pride in their achievements
A range of support is available from Slough Libraries to help make the challenge a success in your school. This includes promotional materials, newsletter articles and assemblies.
