StoryTrails – Stories From Slough’s Past And Present

This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Principal Libraries Outreach Officer (Slough Libraries), Alison Beer, for the attention of all secondary Schools.

The Curve is delighted to have been chosen as one of 15 library locations across the UK to take part in StoryTrails, a one-of-a-kind experience where untold stories from the past are brought to life using augmented and virtual reality and the voices of the local community.

StoryTrails is part of 'UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK', a ground-breaking UK-wide celebration of creativity in 2022. To find out more visit www.story-trails.com

As part of the project an AR (Augmented Reality) trail was created for Slough, featuring the history of Slough’s connection to space exploration and discovery. The trail can be accessed via the Storytrails app on a mobile device and can be enjoyed on location around the town centre, or remotely within your school. It is a unique way to share learning about Slough’s history and heritage.

The Storytrails trailer gives you a taste of the experience. The app also gives you access to A Moment Across Time, featuring voices from the past from across the UK describing their experiences of different eras from the 60s onwards.

Slough Libraries can offer demonstrations of these resources to staff and students. For further information, contact Alison Beer, Principal Libraries Outreach Officer (Children and Young People) alison.beer@slough.gov.uk
