Children's Centre and Family Hub Update

This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Family Hub Coordinator, Childrens Centres and Family Hubs, Bernadette Kelly for the attention of all Early Years and Childcare Practitioners.

As you may already know, the Children’s Centres celebrated 20 years this year and we are looking to transfer them to Family Hubs in the near future, this means that we will now be working with all families with children aged 0-19 (or 25 with SEND), rather than 0-8.

I have attached a document that has all our contact details on that you can print and display for staff teams and parents if you wish to do so.

Myself and Belinda are the Coordinators for the Family Hubs.

Jacqui and Dionne are our Outreach Officers and will be based out and about in the community. If you would like them to do any outreach at any sessions you may be having, please email Belinda and myself, and we can check availability for you.

We currently offer Outreach at the Foodbank, Maternity Hubs, The Curve, Langley Library, Cippenham Library, Britwell Wellbeing Hub, Homestart, parental support groups and more.

Shital and Anita will be mostly based in the Family Hubs delivering Services.

Please can I draw your attention to 3 new services that may be of benefit to you and your families.

0-19 Drop in Clinic

These are held across the 3 Family Hubs and at Cippenham Nursery. They will have Health Visitors and School Nurses in attendance should you have any families or young people who wish to speak to a school nurse or health visitor.

Slough Domestic Abuse Support Service

These sessions are held in the 3 Family Hubs. Parents and carers can access support advice and guidance in a safe and confidential space. No appointment necessary. They can also be contacted on the details in the attachment.

Talking Therapies - Wellbeing Service

With our East Berkshire Wellbeing Service you can access individual guiding sessions to help you work through your problem and feel empowered to find solutions.

Perhaps you don’t know what benefits you’re entitled to?

Or what to do about problem debt?

Or you need guidance dealing with a housing eviction?

Maybe you want help setting realistic goals or staying motivated to eat healthily, lose weight or improve your fitness?

We can guide you work out what matters to you, support you to start tackling your situation and make practical changes to improve your day-to-day life. We can then connect you with other services and organisations to help you get your life back on track.

I have also attached some information about the other services available in the 3 family hubs which may also be of benefit.

Please do not hesitate to contact Belinda or I if you need any further information.
