Migrant Help has launched a new free school programme aiming to promote positive discussion and increased understanding and empathy about the issues facing people escaping violence and persecution. We’re running a free conference on 19 October that will introduce the programme and explain how schools can get involved.
Do you want your young people to have empathy and understanding of issues faced by those escaping violence and persecution? Would you like to create a more welcoming environment for students from different backgrounds? We can help you.
We are Migrant Help, a charity that has been supporting vulnerable people - those seeking asylum in the UK, refugees and survivors of modern slavery - for 60 years. We exist to protect people affected by displacement and exploitation, helping them thrive as individuals and recover from their trauma.
Schools programme outline
Migrant Help has created an exciting new Schools Programme, which aims to promote positive discussion and increased understanding and empathy about the issues facing people escaping violence and persecution. The programme will offer school visits to deliver highly engaging and thought-provoking workshops and assemblies to dispel some of the myths and inspire ideas and discussion on the theme of asylum and refuge, and how we can all play a part in extending a welcome and showing support to those who seek sanctuary in the UK.
These engaging and interactive workshops can be tailored to the school’s own needs and the age range of their students. We are hoping to work with as many schools as possible in this new school year, to create a more welcoming environment for all.
