This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Associate Director and Education & Inclusion, Johnny Kyriacou, for the attention of all headteachers.
We are writing to you for your support with this scheme to ensure all eligible FSM children receive food vouchers over the Christmas period. This should equate to £30 per child.
This was discussed at recent Slough Education Partnership Board meeting and the following solution was deemed the quickest and most efficient way to distribute the vouchers. We are asking schools to purchase the vouchers for all eligible FSM children and then the council will reimburse the school.
In order to be reimbursed we will need to be sent a receipt of purchase with the list of children. If your school is not able to purchase the vouchers please let us know so we can try and support. If we don’t hear from you we will be operating on the presumption that you are administering the vouchers.
We are having further discussions as to whether we can fund schools for children that may be in a vulnerable category but not eligible for FSM.
