Library public consultation 17 December – 25 February 2025
Slough Borough Council is consulting on two proposed changes for the future of the library service.
This consultation is for residents, partners, library users and non -users to understand how you/your organisation uses library services, and to seek your views on why you use our libraries, (or why you don’t) when do you use them and what would you like to see delivered by a future library service? The future library service must:
- Ensure that library services are affordable and deliver value for money
- Ensure library services are accessible and meet local needs
- Support and promote good use of technology including digitalisation of services where appropriate.
The consultation is asking for feedback on the two proposals being put forward, looking in detail at how the proposals could make an impact and what alternative models for the library service could look like
The proposed changes are:
- Reduce the library staffing budget to deliver savings by removing two vacant posts.
- Cease operating library services from Cippenham and Langley library buildings.
We would like to know the impact of proposed changes on you /and your organisation
To help we are asking you to complete an online survey. Here is the link to the survey: https://slough.citizenspace.com/libraries/slough-library-service-public-consultation It should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete
The feedback and responses we receive from the online survey and consultation will be essential in helping to make any final decisions.
It will also help us to understand how we can best develop the library service to meet the needs of residents and provide value for money.
Final decisions will be made in Spring 2025 based on the feedback and responses received from the consultation and survey.
Please can you share as widely as possible with parents and groups. The last day to complete the survey is Thursday 25 February 2025
As well as drop ins and online events the libraries team are happy to meet with you/your groups/teams. Further information can be found at Library Consultation webpage or by emailing libraryconsultation@slough.gov.uk
