The Foundation Years team have sent out the following information about the EYFS consultation and seeking the views of the public about the changes. We would encourage people to take the time to read and complete the consultation. This is the opportunity for the views of the EY sector to be noted and taken account of as part of this process.
The Department for Education has today launched a public consultation seeking views on changes to the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (EYFS). The goal of the reforms is to improve outcomes for all children and reduce workload. Visit the Foundation Years website for a summary of the consultation.
The consultation includes proposed changes to the educational programmes, the early learning goals and the EYFS profile assessment. It also seeks views on one change to the safeguarding and welfare section of the framework to promote good oral health.
The consultation is available here and will run until 31 January 2020.
Findings from the pilot of the draft revised EYFS framework led by the Education Endowment Foundation, in partnership with NatCen Social Research and Action for Children have also been published on 6th November 2019.
