Seconded Volunteer Shadow Lead Moderators for KS1 & KS2 Moderation 2022-2023

This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Jo Curd, Group Manager for Schools Effectiveness for the attention of School Staff.

We are drawing to the end of SATs, Teacher Assessments and moderation. Jamie, Debbie and Rav our lead moderators in Slough are busy with moderation, notifications and training. Thank you to all three of them, especially Rav who has worked closely with Jamie this year and will be taking other roles within her school next year.

Although we are still not sure what assessments at KS1 will look like in 2023 we are looking ahead and putting provisional plans in place. We would like to appoint volunteer seconded lead moderators for up to 28 days for KS1 and 32 days for KS2 from 2023-24 (including substantial time out of school during statutory assessments 2023) to work alongside Jamie and Debbie. These moderators may then become substantial paid leads in 2023-24. They will be paid £300 a day for the secondment (up to 28 days for KS1 and up to 32 days for KS2). This can either be paid to the individual appointed or the school where they teach towards cover costs.

If you, or a member of your staff, are interested in this, please could they send an expression of interest letter and their CV to Jo Curd jo.curd@slough.gov.uk by 5pm on day Friday 8th July, stating why you/they are interested, your/their experience, why you/they would like to take up this opportunity and include a note of support from your/their headteacher.

We look forward to receiving interest.
