Tuesday 10 September was World Suicide Prevention Day.
Although suicide is a sensitive topic and one that be a difficult conversation to have, it is important to raise awareness about this, as having that difficult conversation with a colleague, friend or family member could help save a life.
The theme for World Suicide Prevention Day for 2024-2026 is "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" with the call to action "Start the Conversation". Sometimes, the hardest words to say are the most important.
While we may not always see the warning signs, taking time out to reach out and talk can be a big help.
It is important to know that having a work life balance and talking about pressures in our life can help to prevent unfortunate events. No single approach works for everyone but talking to a trusted friend, family member or work colleague can help with difficult times.
When someone is dealing with difficult thoughts or worries, having someone there to listen can make all the difference.
