BBO Maths Hub | Primary Teaching for Mastery Opportunities 2020/2021

This article has been brought to you by BBO Maths Hub. This is for the attention of the all primary schools.

BBO Maths Hub are still accepting applications for their Primary Teaching for Mastery Work Groups for 2020-2021 from schools based in Bucks, Oxfordshire, Slough, and Windsor & Maidenhead LA’s. We are aware that we do not yet know the situation for schools in 2020-2021 so please also use this application form to register your interest in the programme.

BBO Maths Hub, (supporting Bucks, Berks and all of Oxfordshire) are seeking to recruit primary schools to take part in a programme of professional development, designed to support schools in implementing a teaching for mastery approach and we would love you to be involved. We welcome schools applying individually or as part of a MAT.

This is a funded work group and funding is available for 2 teachers from each school to attend 6 half-day meetings, totalling £1000. In addition there is financial help, should the school make the decision to purchase textbooks (subject to DfE confirmation).

More information and the application form can be found at https://bbomathshub.org.uk/ and there is also an application form attached at the bottom of the article.

Applications should be returned to info@bbomathshub.org.uk as soon as possible.

Mastery Readiness

The Mastery Readiness programme is for schools who have a commitment to developing a teaching for mastery approach long term but currently need additional support for improving mathematics teaching, learning and leadership. It is a project that will develop vital skills and practices for schools that have not yet accessed the Teaching for Mastery programme. Participant schools will access free 5 full-day workshops and regular high quality bespoke support from our Mastery Readiness Lead, in the form of school visits.

The programme will focus on two key areas:

  • Development of classroom culture and attitudes to mathematics that will support a teaching for mastery approach, both on the part of teachers and their pupils.
  • The development of leadership that will remove barriers and put in place structures to support change and teacher professional development in relation to teaching for mastery.

Please email info@bbomathshub.org.uk for further information and an application form.
