This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Principal Health and Wellbeing Project Officer, Susan Dyer, for the attention of all schools.
World Immunisation Week 2021 takes place this week from 25th – 30th April. This year’s message is Immunisation Brings Us Closer … a very apt message after the year we have all had! Further details can be found on the World Health Organisation website here.
To mark World Immunisation Week, we would like to invite you to become a #OneSlough Vaccine Ambassador School. Attached is an overview of the project, with details of the materials you will be provided with if you decide to get involved. The advantages of becoming a Vaccine Ambassador School are as follows:
- A way of marking World Immunisation Week and promoting this year’s message that Immunisation Brings Us Closer by supporting efforts to bring the Covid-19 pandemic under control so the restrictions on social contact can be eased.
- Strengthening links with pupils’ families to provide accurate information and support which will contribute to your whole school approach to health and wellbeing.
- Reinforcing the following topics which are part of the statutory health education curriculum: ‘The facts and science relating to immunisation and vaccination.’
