School Music Provision Data Form 2017 - 2018

This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Head of Slough Music Service, Laura Lancaster, for the attention of Headteachers, Music teachers and Music coordinators.

Each year Music Hubs across England are requested by the DfE and the Arts Council to complete a compulsory data return on schools’ music provision. This is to measure the impact of government spending.  All schools across Slough are to share their data from the academic year 2017 – 2018, the current year, to allow us to make a data submission to the DfE on your behalf and celebrate music making in your schools.

Last year we had a good response to the form and feedback from the Arts Council on behalf of the DfE was excellent - well done and thank you to everyone involved in advocating and delivering music education in Slough and especially to those who are good at feeding back the statistics!

We completely appreciate that completing these forms can be tiresome so please note that the figures can be approximations if exact figures are hard to collate.  This includes the SEN and FSM figures. Please do not dedicate too much time to the form as we appreciate how busy everyone is without extra paperwork to complete.  However it is vital that we get a response from every school, no matter how brief, otherwise the DfE can only assume you are not offering your pupils music education.

We will send you your individual form's from last year if you submitted one for ease of reference and for cut and pasting.  You are welcome to respond by a quick email saying the figures are exactly the same as the previous year and just answer any additional questions in the email.  We would really like to make the process to be as easy as possible for you! We are also happy to visit you in school to assist with the completion of this form, so please do not hesitate to contact me to arrange this if necessary.

We would be grateful if you could return the attached forms by Tuesday 24th July to laura.lancaster@slough.gov.uk

Please do also take a look at the Music Service calendar for the forthcoming academic year. This is regularly updated and please join the music service Facebook closed groups for primary and secondary music by clicking the links.

I look forward to receiving your form and wish you all the best for the summer!
