This article has been brought to you by Slough Borough Council's OD/HR Business Partner, Belinda Collins, for the attention of all Headteachers in Slough.
Please find attached document in relation to school teacher’s 2019/20 pay produced by the Local Government Association to assist you in your discussions to determine how you translate the uplift to the national ranges into your own pay decisions that are consistent with the provisions of your school’s pay policy. Slough Borough Council are recommending that the main pay scales should all be uplifted by 2.75%, however this decision is for each individual school Governing Body to make.
If your school decides to adopt the 2.75% at the minimum and maximum points only with 1% or 2% in the other pay points and your payroll provider is Arvato, you will need to make contact with them to advise them of this fact. The default position is that the 2.75% uplift will apply to all the main pay scales and this will be implemented by Arvato.
If you have staff who are on the national TLR or SEN points you will not need to do anything as the 2.75% will be automatically applied. If however, you have applied other pay elements and the TLR or SEN points for your school are now different from the national pay elements you will need to contact payroll separately to advise what payment you wish to be made, this will need to be in writing using the relevant forms. Again the default position will be that the 2.75% will be applied to all payments that are on the current national pay arrangements for 2019/20. If any payments are different than this they will be ceased pending advice from the individual school.
Should your school decide to award the teacher’s with annual increment relating to their performance you will need to contact payroll separately to advise what payment you wish to make.
For schools using Slough Borough Council’s payroll provider:
Please note that payments will be made in October 2019 and backdated to the 1st September 2019. If you have questions about the pay information, please speak to your HR provider.
