There are a number of statutory policies and documents that schools are required to produce around the area of human resources, as set out in the Department for Education's (DfE's) guidance on statutory policies. These include a policy or having written documentation on:
- Capability of staff
- Teacher appraisal
- Teachers' pay
- Central record of recruitment and vetting checks
- Staff discipline, conduct and grievance (procedures for addressing)
- Statement of procedures for dealing with allegations of abuse against staff
Governing bodies and proprietors of independent schools should ensure they have each of these in place, as a minimum. There are many other areas of human resources, which schools deal with so it may be prudent to produce policies to cover these issues as well.
Clicking on the links below will take you through to the Council's guidance for schools around human resources, in these separate areas.
