Road Safety Week | 14-20 November

This article is brought to you by Slough Borough Council's Interim Senior EYFS Advisory Teacher, Karen Loft, for the attention of Early Years Settings and Schools.

Road Safety Week, the UK’s biggest annual road safety event, is taking place from 14 to 20 November 2022.  Thousands of schools, organisations and communities will come together to speak up for everyone's right to make safe and healthy journeys on our roads.

The 2022 campaign theme, Safe Roads For All, will raise awareness of key areas of road safety, including safe vehicles and speeds, the recent update to the Highway Code and the new hierarchy of road users, and the importance of inclusivity to keep us all safe on the roads, no matter who we are or how we travel.

Together we can help children, young people and parents learn why safe roads are important, and enable them to speak up for safe and healthy journeys.

With the school holidays ending, now is the perfect time to spread the news about Road Safety Week. If you haven’t already, please forward this news to your childcare provider network and encourage them to sign up to Road Safety Week. Everyone who signs up can access our posters, lesson plans and other teaching materials. We’ve already seen a significant number of childcare providers sign up, so if you forwarded our previous email, thank you, it’s working! I’ve also attached some text that can be used in any newsletters or bulletins you send out.
